Some of the biggest lies being propagated in the world today are the lies being spread by activists, liberal educators and politicians concerning “safe sex.” Millions of our young people are being led astray by the very people to whom they look for sound leadership! There are scores of organizations, courses, books, and even web sites which supposedly teach people how to enjoy safe sexual activity, yet very few of these “sexperts” are dealing with the real issue.
Most everyone who speaks out on this subject begins with the assumption that it is alright for any two consenting individuals to engage in sexual activity. The only question usually addressed is how to do it in a physically safe manner in order to avoid contracting a sexually transmitted disease. In the twisted minds of such people, the worst thing that could happen to a sexually active person is a terminal disease such as AIDS or hepatitis. These people are liars, and if you follow their counsel you will reap severe consequences. They don’t really care about you. If they did, they would tell you the WHOLE truth.
Many of the people who set themselves up as sex educators have already violated God’s laws concerning sexual activity, so they simply ignore God’s word when speaking on the subject. Friend, in all honesty, may I suggest to you that it has NEVER been “safe” to ignore God’s word? Anyone who speaks about “safe sex” without including God’s instruction is a liar. “. . . all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Rev. 21:8)
No one is more qualified to speak on the subject of safe sex than God Himself. If it were not for God, there wouldn’t be any sex! People throughout the world are enjoying God’s gift of sex, yet they are abusing it at the same time-- endangering themselves more than they could ever imagine.
Picture, if you will, a man who purchases a gun. By law, this man has done nothing wrong in purchasing a gun. He is allowed to have a gun, and he is allowed to shoot the gun as long as he does so in a safe manner. However, he is not allowed to harm anyone with the gun or even threaten to do so. If he does, then he has abused his free privilege, and he will be punished. Rather than use the gun for legal purposes, he chooses to use it illegally, so he must pay for his crime. Even if the judicial system fails to punish him, people with common sense still know that he is a criminal and he deserves to be punished.
Sex works the same way. There is nothing wrong with a person enjoying sexual activity. God made us to desire sexual gratification, and He doesn’t frown upon us when we fulfill this desire His way, according to His word. However, when we ignore God’s laws and practice our own sexual preferences, we become criminals in God’s sight, and punishment will surely follow. Even when the sexperts say, “Use protection and you’ll be okay,” God never said it, and you will not be protected from His wrath. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Gal. 6:7)
Now, what does God say about sex? God’s word is very clear and simple. The ONLY sexual activity which God accepts is that between a MAN AND HIS WIFE. Anything else is known as fornication, adultery, sodomy or bestiality, all of which are sins in the sight of God (I Cor. 6:18; Gal. 5:19-21; Exo. 20:14; Mat. 5:27-28; Lev. 20:10-16; 18:22-23). God originally created a man and a woman and ordained that they become one as husband and wife and populate the earth (Gen. 2:18-25; 1:28). God has ordained no other form of sexual activity.
Sexual activity between a girlfriend and boyfriend is FORNICATION because they are not married. “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.” (I Cor. 6:18) “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.” (I Ths. 4:3) “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunken-ness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Gal. 5:19-21)
“But we love one another!” someone cries. Then get married. God doesn’t offer us the gift of sex without a condition. The condition is that we must have a lifelong covenant relationship with our partner. With privileges also come responsibilities. A person who takes a privilege without its responsibility is a criminal in God’s sight.
A common practice today is cohabitation, or “living together.” This is just a sinful grown-up way of “playing house.” A couple who lives together without marriage is a couple who has become habitual and irresponsible fornicators. She thinks he’s a wonderful man, yet he’s such a coward he can’t even ask her to be his wife. He thinks she’s a fine lady, yet she’s nothing more than a cheap prostitute who allows herself to be used for his sexual gratification in exchange for what seems to be a stable and secure home life. This make-believe game may fool people, but it doesn’t fool God. This is a sin, and it will be punished! God didn’t change His law just because someone started acting like married people. Either you are married or you are not married. If you are not married, yet you have sexual relations, then you are a wicked fornicator. That’s the truth, no matter what anyone else says about it. “. . . let God be true, but every man a liar.” (Rom. 3:4)
Many like to argue that God “understands” their relationship like no one else does, and no one has a right to judge them. Friend, God has given us His word to show us right from wrong. No one has a free pass. No one has a license to sin. Everyone is accountable to God’s word. God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34), so His word applies to all. Isaiah 8:20 says, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Jesus said, “He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.” (John 12:48) People who claim exception to God’s rules concerning sex are liars. If there were exceptions, God would have told us. If I am permitted to drive 100 miles per hour on the freeway, then there must be a written law somewhere which gives me this right. I cannot assume this right without a written authority, such as a special license or a road sign. Likewise, one cannot lawfully assume that God approves of his sexual conduct without a written authority. God’s only written authority is the Bible, and the Bible grants no exceptions. Sexual activity is for married people--a man and his wife--and no one else. The only SAFE sex is MARRIED sex between a man and a woman. Any other form of sex is SINFUL sex. Death and Hell await those who continue in such wickedness.
“I’m guilty, so what must I do? Can I be forgiven?”
Yes, you can. Perhaps God has convicted you of your sin. Perhaps you respect the word of God and you believe God’s warnings about sin--any sin. Do you want forgiveness? Do you want to make a fresh new start in life? The Bible says you can! God is merciful, and God can give you another chance!
Isaiah 1:18 says, “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” Jesus Christ shed His sinless blood so your sins could be washed away. He died, was buried, and then He rose again for your justification. The Bible says that your sins can be washed away in the blood of Jesus if you’ll repent of your sins and believe on Him as your Saviour.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23)
“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” (Ecc. 7:20)
“As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” (Rom. 3:10)
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10)
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (Rom. 5:8-9)
“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3)
“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.” (Acts 17:30)
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31)
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:12)
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Rom. 10:9-10)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Rom. 10:13)
Friend, God’s word is clear. You are a sinner and you need to be saved. You need to have your sins washed away in the blood of Jesus Christ. There is no other way to be cleansed of sin. The Bible says that it is THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST which cleanses us from sin (I John 1:7; Rev. 5:9). Nothing else can take your sins away. No man can save you because all men are sinners. Only Jesus Christ can save you because only Jesus Christ lived a sinless life and then gave that life as a payment for YOUR salvation. Will you trust Him? Will you forsake your sins and trust the Saviour?
God doesn’t warn you about the consequences of sin and then leave you hopeless. God warns you so you will see your lost condition and turn to Him for help. Will you turn to Him now? Why not get on your knees and confess that you are a sinner and that you need Jesus Christ as your Saviour? Ask God to wash all of your sins in the blood of Jesus and make you a new creature in Christ (II Cor. 5:17).
If you have received Jesus Christ as your Saviour, please start looking for a good Bible-believing church to attend, and speak with the pastor about baptism, membership, and how you can start serving God.
